Oratorio Society Invites Singers to Perform Requiem by John Rutter

Wednesday, January 4

The Phipps Oratorio Society will begin rehearsals for Requiem by John Rutter on Sunday, January 15, at 2:30 p.m. in the music studio of The Phipps Center for the Arts in Hudson, Wisconsin.  Interested singers, high school age and older, are invited to be a part of the Oratorio Society chorus which will perform Requiem at 2 p.m. on Palm Sunday, April 1.  Thomas Dahle, Oratorio Society Music Director, will lead the rehearsals and conduct the performance, including soprano soloist and orchestra, to be given at Bethel Highlands Church, Hudson.  Heather Tank, Hudson, is the rehearsal accompanist.
A lyrical masterpiece of hope and comfort, Requiem combines the melodic simplicity of Bach with a distinctly modern sensibility by Rutter, who has been called "the world's greatest living composer --- of choral music."

Although no auditions are required to participate in the chorus, basic musicianship skills and prior choral experience are essential.  A membership fee of $25 per signer will be collected to help defray production costs. Singers are expected to miss  no more than two of the scheduled rehearsals.
