Hand-Building with Clay

Hand-Building with Clay

Work with Internationally-Known Local Ceramic Artist Jay Jensen
February 4th - March 3rd, 2012

What is hand-building?  It is any technique used to build ceramic objects that does not use the potter's wheel.  Unlike the potter's wheel, hand-building is more forgiving and can be a relaxing way to make both functional and sculptural ceramics. This class is designed to expose students of all skill levels to techniques such as pinch, coil, slab construction or a combination of all.  We will explore the creation of forms such as cups, bowls, plates, as well as possibilites for sculpture.  At our final class meeting, we will explore different techniques to finish and glaze the work.

Five Saturdays
February 4 through March 3
1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Fee: $140
