Summer Theater Camps

Drama - Acting Ensemble - Musical Theater

Youth Medication and Special Needs Policy

Participants under the age of 18 who are engaged in The Phipps sponsored or administered activites and who require medication, must have the medication administered by a parent or guardian.

Participants with special needs must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.


Drama Camp
for students entering 3rd and 4th grades

Students will work with instructors to explore acting, creating characters, improvisation and performance techniques. They will use the skills developed, along with their creativity, to bring a story to life. This work will be shared with family and friends on the final day of class.

Acting Ensemble
for students entering 5th and 6th grades

Students will work with instructors on acting techniques, improvisation, character development and performance techniques. The Acting Ensemble will create a performance piece inspired by student ideas and their classroom improvisations. This original piece will be performed for family and friends on the final day of class.

Musical Theater Camp
for students entering grades 7 – 10

An intensive week of training in all types of musical theater taught by some of the premiere artists in the Twin Cities area. Designed for all levels of experience, this camp offers workshops in acting, dance and movement, voice, and auditioning. An original work will be performed for family and friends on the final day of class.

Fee: $265

Students should bring a bag lunch.

A $50 deposit is required along with the registration form. The tuition balance is due June 13. Enrollment is limited.

Instructors

Mark Rosenwinkel, acting instructor and director, has over 20 years of acting experience, including the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres, the Guthrie, Mixed Blood Theatre, and Penumbra.

Diane Landis, acting instructor, has performed with the Children’s Theatre Company, Mixed Blood Theatre, and Theatre Exchange. She has also directed for Stages Theatre Company and The Phipps Children’s Theater.

Betsy Benjamin, vocal instructor, is a theater and commercial actor as well as a vocal/choral faculty member at the MacPhail Center for the Arts in Minneapolis.

Heidi Spesard-Noble, dance instructor, has performed and choreographed for the Minnesota Opera and the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres. She has also danced with the Minnesota Dance Theatre and Ballet of the Dolls.
