Cancellation Policy: Students
may withdraw their enrollment up to one week prior to the start
of class and receive the total fee paid, less a $5 processing fee.
Fifty percent of the class fee will be refunded, less a $5 processing
fee for cancellations made within the week prior to the start of
class. Once a class begins, no refunds will be made. No compensation
will be given for missed class sessions.
Henna Workshop
For teens and adults
Participants will learn about this intriguing form of
body art. Based on the traditional Eastern art form,
henna art looks stunning and is a safe alternative to
real tattoos. Students will receive recipes for
making paste and learn how to mix it, experiment with
various application techniques, and learn how to do
both traditional and contemporary design work. Each
student will receive a henna design applied by the
instructor. Tools and materials will be provided for
use during the class and will be available for purchase.

Instructor Jane Mannetter is the owner of Zaney Janey's Activity Center, CHECK IT OUT located in downtown River Falls. She is well known for her children's parties, and offers a variety of classes at her center.
Watercolor Studio with Coaching by Lynne Baur
Join other beginner and intermediate watercolorists in a fun and supportive group painting session. You work on the projects of your choice; Lynne Baur and Carolyn Streed provide individual and group coaching. You’ll get help on every aspect of watercolor painting, from choosing a suitable subject and planning your painting sequence to making those final adjustments that take your work from so-so to “Wow!” Improve your watercolor technique, learn to create textures and special effects, pick up some tricks of the trade and get individual help on whatever interests you most. (Please request a suggested materials list when registering. If you're at all unsure of what to buy, please attend one class before buying materials. There will be materials for you to borrow on the first day.) All students in Watercolor Open Studio classes are invited to bring a brown bag lunch and share paintings and conversation from 11:45 a.m. -12:30 p.m. between classes.

Instructor Lynne Baur began painting about seven years ago, but is quickly achieving success with the fresh, vivid color and glow of light in her nature-inspired watercolors. You can see samples of her work online at www.lynnebaur.com. Carolyn Streed has been a student of Lynne’s for the past two years, and is now painting professionally. Baur and Streed will team-teach the class, to provide even more individual instruction.

Majolica Pottery Workshop
The creation of colorful Majolica and Talavera pottery will be the focus of this four-day workshop. Students will use hand-building and wheel techniques to create functional and decorative forms from low-fire earthenware clay. Historical and contemporary images will be shown and participants will spend time discussing the work at various stages to aid in idea development. This workshop is open to all levels and designed to introduce participants to this well-known style of pottery.

Instructor Marjorie Wade has taught pottery classes at The Phipps for the past six years as well as in local schools and from her studio. She has taken numerous clay classes, programs, and workshops and completed her studies in ceramics at the University of Wisconsin at River Falls.
